Register with Search Engines
Once a website has been
properly optimized for
the keyword targeted and
designed to the clients
specification, it is time
to register the site with
the search engines.

Engines
Iksanika offers cost-effective custom software development services.
Many times the website
may already be in the search
engines but may not have
the rankings that are desired.
In this case, the search
engine spiders will soon
come around to the site
and find the updated design
and content, and, if properly
optimized, the site
will start to climb in
the rankings. If the site
is new or has not been
picked up by the search
engines yet, you need to
go to the main search engines
and submit the site for
inclusion (this does not
include directories like
Yahoo, see
below). Basically when
a search engine like Google
realizes your site is "out
there" on the Internet
it will come around and
index it. Other engines
will do the same. In effect,
over time all the major
search engine players will
pick up your site and rank
it. The key then is to
make sure you have done
the Search
Engine Optimization on
the site to set the stage
for higher rankings.
Submitting to
Directories like Yahoo
Directories like Yahoo
Directory are a different
story. They don't go
out and spider the web.
They are lists of categories
which have website under
them. Yahoo actually
employs a human being
(imagine that!) to review
each site before inclusion.
The power of reach of
the Yahoo Directory is
not as big as it once
was. Google is the powerhouse
and even Yahoo lists
regular search results
on its home page, not
the results from its
Directory. |
