What are your qualifications?
I have been designing and creating web sites since 1995. My background in
layout and design builds from years of experience in video as an editor and
producer. Combined with these skills, I have a training background and
experience in 3-D animation as well as software technical writing. In 1989 I
graduated with a bachelors degree in video/film (with a double major in
creative writing). So in short, I have accumulated experience in the key areas
necessary for creating web sites, namely HTML coding, graphic design, and copy
writing.
What web sites have you created?
I have created and maintained a large number of web sites in my
career. Starting as a developer for a software company named MSA
(currently called "a4"), I then moved on to
a multimedia company (Hatteras Software) where I developed their
web site as well as create and act as managing editor of their
object-oriented software e-zine (called Eye
on Objects). Since 1997 I have worked as a web developer for
a government contractor to the EPA. During this period, I have worked
on numerous web site projects utilizing the Lotus Notes/Domino environment
as well as HTML.
How long will my site take to complete?
The time frame for completing a site depends heavily on the size and the
complexity of the project. A three page site with two to three graphics per
page and content provided by the client will generally take less than one week
to complete. A larger site of eight to ten pages with custom graphics and some
copy writing can take from two to four weeks. Larger and/or more complex sites
will naturally take a little longer.
Why should my company pick you over other web design
firms?
For one, I can save you money. I have acquired all the skills needed to
create your web site (from graphic design, to HTML coding, to technical and
creative writing). If you need a particular skill that I do not possess to
complete your site, I will subcontract that work for you. You will save money
with Paul Kaufman Web Design because I will do the site personally and
professionally.
Secondly, I offer something that other web design companies do not.
Training. After I design your web presence, I offer one-on-one or group
training on all aspects of web site development and maintenance. If you choose
to take advantage of this training, you will save thousands of dollars in web
site maintenance fees because your in-house personnel will have the knowledge
to take over those duties.
Why do you offer training? Won't that reduce your
ability to charge customers for web site upkeep and maintenance?
I would rather teach a client how to maintain their web site on their own
rather than charge them for my services on an on-going basis. Why? Because I
can focus on designing fresh and innovative sites for other
clients. I will however, still offer site maintenance to any customer who
does not choose the training option.
I would like a small, personal home page on the web.
Can you help me?
Yes. I can create a smaller site that will fit your needs. Smaller
web site packages start at $350.
